First Shoes and A Balloon!

We took Emmett to the Stride Rite store in the outlet mall today to get his first pair of shoes. His feet are really wide so we had them measure so we could get the right size. He's a 4 wide. Big feet!

He thought they were kind of funny and kept kicking his feet around.

We also stopped in at Old Navy to get him some jeans. While we were there he got a big balloon. That was pretty much the entertainment for the entire night from then on out. It came on a stick which he loved, but I was afraid he would poke himself in the eye or something so I took the stick off, much to his dismay.

I also got a video of him chasing his balloon around the house. Yes, that is him squeaking!

Brrrr

Today was the fist official day of fall, and it was also freezing! We headed up to Lake City yesterday and were excited to have a weekend full of hiking and fun. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate. It rained more often than not, and it was pretty darn chilly for September.

Emmett had to bundle up in the cold.

We went to the Fall Fever festival in Cadillac. Emmett was excited waiting for the parade.

I think a lot of what was supposed to be at the festival was probably cancelled due to the weather. It was super small. After the parade, we headed to the White Pine Trail to do a little hiking. Emmett was really happy to get in to the backpack carrier.

He was even happier on the trail. All smiles and chatting it up.

We had to head back to the car after a couple miles because the rain hit again. Emmett had some hat hair when we unbundled him.

By the time we got back to the cabin he was beat. He took a nice long nap while we packed everything up.

On our way home he was getting restless in his carseat, so we decided to stop in at Uncle Johns Cider Mill, which was right on the way. It was getting late(and even colder!) so we didn't stay too long. Emmett did bounce on this horse in the play area for a bit.

All of the rain made for this rainbow that we saw as we left the cider mill.

The Dishwasher is Apparently Big Fun!

Emmett's new obsession is the dishwasher. He scrambles over the second I open it and insists on playing with it. A whiny tantrum ensues when I close it.

Trying to look innocent...

Then trying the smiley baby tactic...

 Climbing like a monkey

We are pretty excited that it is feeling like fall outside! Emmett and I took a 3 mile walk on the trail at Kensington park yesterday. He loved it! We would have taken a longer walk, but I started feeling random rain drops so we turned back. We made it to the car just before it started pouring.

Here is my sweet boy in his hoody after we made it back to the car. I meant to snap some pictures along the trail but forgot the camera in the car. :-/

First Cider Mill Trip

We took advantage of another beautiful day and went to the Parshallville cider mill. There isn't a whole lot to do there, but it is a beautiful scenic spot and they have the best donuts around.

Emmett would not look at the camera

He was fascinated with the dam

First taste of donut. He only had a little bit of a plain one, but he was a big fan.

Outdoorsy Stuff

The weather here has been absolutely beautiful. It's starting to feel a lot like fall and we have been getting outside as much as possible. We bought a Kelty Kids carrier for hiking. Emmett really seems to enjoy riding in it and it is a convenient way to hike with a baby.

Here is Emmett and daddy trying it out. We plan to get a lot of use out of it when we take our trip up north next weekend!

Today we took a trip out to Kensington Metro Park. Emmett got to enjoy the fresh air and check out some animals at the farm center. His favorite were the goats.

Happy boy!

Cutest. Baby. Ever.

Tomorrow we have plans to hit up the smaller cider mill close by. I can't wait to make the rounds to all of the orchards/cider mills this fall!

Busy Life of Play

Emmett is a busy boy these days. After he has breakfast we make the rounds through all of his toys, and many things that aren't toys(nothing quite as fascinating as the dogs water bowl).

He loves his barn. It's one of his favorite things to pull up on now.

The activity table is another favorite

I picked this little workbench up at a garage sale and it has been a pretty big hit as well.

If you wonder why Emmett is rarely wearing pants, it's because I just don't feel like fighting with him to get them on!

When he got ready for bed tonight he got to wear his big boy pajamas for the first time. They are adorable on him! He is looking less and less like a baby every day.
