Dinosaurs!

We went to East Lansing today to go to the Discover Dinosaurs event. We weren't sure what to expect, but it was really, really cool! Emmett loved it! When we got there I was afraid that he might be scared of the t-rex rawring and chomping it's teeth, but it didn't phase him at all. It was a blast and we will have to watch for it to come back next year! The pictures are pretty crappy because it was dark in there except the lights pointed at the displays, but it's better than nothing! :)

His "wow" face!

Some of the dinosaurs.

I guess he wanted to hold this dino's hand?

Looking up into the mouth. He was fascinated with the teeth on all of the dinosaurs.

More dinosaurs!

This was the fossil dig. It involved sand, so of course he loved it!

Uncovering "fossils"

Cheesy...

What we have always known to be true...haha!

Operating one of the dinosaurs! The buttons let you open/close the mouth, move the tail, move the head, and move the feet. It was really neat!

Going for the teeth yet again...

Little play area where they could ride/climb on these little dinosaurs.

Happy boy in the car to head home! He got a stuffed dino. Big surprise that he picked one out with a tongue and teeth. :)

Refurbished Playhouse!

We got this playhouse for $15. It was in rough shape, but we figured we would take a shot at cleaning it up and painting it. I read up on painting plastic and went out to get the supplies.

Here it is all taken apart and scrubbed up. Still looking rough.

Giving everything a coat of plastic primer before we painted.

All painted!

We painted the table and back wall, but didn't paint the rest of the interior. We ran out of paint and I figure Emmett doesn't care!

I don't have any pictures of him playing in it yet, but I will get some this weekend. He's a big fan!

Detroit Zoo

We took a trip to the Detroit zoo the weekend before last. I think it was our best zoo trip yet! This is the first time Emmett has been really in to the animals and actually checking things out. He did a lot of pointing and saying "wow!" It was one of the funnest times of our summer. I think we will make a point to go back before it gets too cold!

Walking the ledge in the amphibian house

He was amazed with this giant salamander. He kept pointing and laughing. This got a lot of wows from him!

Checking out the turtle. Gotta love whatever is going on with his hair there...

This was his favorite part of the whole zoo. The arctic ring of life! We didn't get to see the polar bear in the water, but the seals were putting on a great show. He was SO excited. When we got in the tunnel I was holding him up to see and he was literally squealing with delight. One of my favorite memories ever!

Once we left the tunnel we stumbled upon feeding time for the polar bear. No wonder he wasn't in the tunnel! Polar bear was not nearly as impressive to Emmett as the seals...

We stopped at the cafe to get some lunch. Emmett kicked back in his wagon with one sandle on and one off. Silly boy.

After lunch Emmett got to ride the carousel. He really loved it this time and cried when his turn was over.

Checking out a butterfly in the butterfly house!

We spent about 4 hours there and still didn't get to see everything. It was hot and Emmett was getting tired so we decided to call it a day. Here he is in the car to go home. Notice he is holding a stuffed seal that his Daddy bought him since he loved them so much. He now sleeps with it every night. <3
